​ From 1st to 13th October 2026, the Whangārei Festivals Trust invites you to explore this celebration of intimate performances, whimsical installations, and playful surprises hidden in secret spaces, cosy venues, and pop-up locations around Whangārei.

The Little Lost Art Festival is the Whangārei Fringes’ little sister—for those who love to wander, wonder, and find magic in forgotten spaces.

Keep an eye out as we may be doing something awesome as a part of this!

To celebrate Youth Week we are putting on the Whangārei Youth Fair!

Come along for a fun day of carnival games, youth stalls, live youth performers, an interactive circus zone and more!

Entry is free! Most stalls will have no eftpos so bring cash!

At Pūtahi Park, on the Hatea River Waterfront, from 10am til 3pm, on May the 17th!

Youth Circus Experience

To celebrate Youth Week, some of our awesome youth are putting on the Youth Circus Experience! They want to show other young people what is possible, and give them the opportunity to give circus a go for themselves!

At the Te Kotahitanga Exhibition Hall in Forum North.
Entry by koha/donation

Fun for the whole family, run away with the circus for the day!

BYO lunch and enjoy a picnic in the park between the show and workshops!

11:00am - Doors open. Facepainting and balloon animals!
11:30am - Youth Circus Show! Prepare to be amazed!
1:00pm - Circus Workshops! Learn some of the awesome tricks you saw on stage!

The dancing diamonds are working hard behind the scenes to bring back Whangārei Fire Jam!

They are fundraising to buy a 200L drum of fire fuel &so they can get fire jam back up & running! Come along for an evening of workshops, a raffle & a fire show!

From the chariot races in Ancient Rome to the spectacular storytelling of contemporary circus, they see it all. Performed by talented youth from across Kaipara and Whangārei, Journey Through the Rings of Time celebrates the wonder, skill, and timeless spirit of circus.

Circus Kumarani, known for winning ‘Audience Choice’ at the 2020 and 2022 Whangarei Fringe Festival, brings you another incredible showcase, perfect for the whole family!

Ever wondered what the back-stage of the back-stage looks like? 

Curious about the mysterious "Board"? Or just want to have a poke around Kumarani's Creative Centre? 

Then Join Us for the Great AGM of Circus Kumarani! 

Saturday, August 16th from 11am to 2pm at the Kumarani Creative Centre in Dargaville

AGM meeting will kick off at 11:30am followed by shared kai, bring a plate to share.

Watch our board members go through the nuts and bolts of governance that keep our wonderful little circus ticking over in the background. We've got budgets and reports, and even some voting!

On Saturday 21st June (the shortest day of the year) Circus Kumarani invites Kaipara Tamariki and their whānau to join us for a fun evening of free…

Circus Workshops (all ages and abilities, bodies and brains)
Open Stage Show (where anyone is welcome to show off their talents)
Fire Spinning. (If you want to have a go, wear natural fibres - wool, cotton, denim)

Celebrating both Matariki and Solstice traditions of gathering with community and sharing kai, bring your friends and whānau and a plate for the potluck. 

We will have activities at both the Kumarani Creative Centre (15 Onslow St) and the Scout Hall (23 Onslow St)

4pm-5pm - Circus Zone at the Scout Hall, Aerial and Balance workshops at Kumarani
5:30pm - Open Stage Show at the Scout Hall
6:30pm - Potluck Dinner at the Scout Hall
7pm - Fire Spinning at Kumarani
8pm - End
