Circus Kumarani is looking for a business intern through the Department of Internal Affairs Community Internship Programme. The programme provides a community organisation with identified development needs the opportunity to employ a skilled professional from the public, private or community sector as an intern for three to six months at no cost to the home or host organisations (matching the interns current salary). Circus Kumarani is looking for an intern with business development skills to carry out the following activities:

1 Develop a sustainable social circus business model that could help bring community circus to more communities nationwide based on the success of Circus Kumarani in Dargaville

2 Conduct a feasibility study that explores potential for:

• links between community circus and other sectors and interest groups: social development, health, education, arts, sports: Maori/Pasifika, disabled, older people
• partnership between NZ Community Circus and corporate/business enterprises
• connections and co-operation with community circus movement internationally

3 Establish new and strengthen existing relationships with

• Tertiary sector, including universities (research and evaluation)
• Iwi (Ngati Whatua links) and Pasifika (origin of many circus skills)
• Secondary schools
• Government
• NGOs
• International groups e.g. Cirque de Soleil’s social branch Cirque du Monde – youth at risk projects
